On the move

Simon is not yet crawling, but he's getting a lot more mobile. He's figured out how to roll over repeatedly to get from one place to another. The video is long, but watch how much ground he covers by the end!

Swimmer outfit!

Simon is now very comfortably in 6-month clothes and starting to also wear the 6-9 month ones! So he can now wear this adorable outfit that the Biegler/Brown/Benson/Kroells group gave me at the baby shower in MN. Too cute!

Smirk

Simon has been working on an adorable new smirk, which melts my heart every time I see it. As Troy says, it's the kind of smile that will make us think, "What on earth did you do..." in a few years. But for now it's just super-cute.

This photo doesn't quite do it justice, but it's the right idea. Hopefully we'll get a photo of it in all its glory soon.

You be the judge

It's been interesting to hear people's takes on which one of us Simon looks more like. People who know me better say that he looks like me, while people who know Troy better say he looks like him. People who know both of us, though, say he's a pretty good mix but lately have been falling more on one side. So to settle the matter once and for all, I present to you the following.

Exhibit A, Master Simon:

Exhibit B, baby photo of me:

Exhibit C, baby photo of Troy (with his siblings):

I think it's pretty much no contest after viewing the evidence, but I leave it to the internets to chime in. :)

(Actually, I think if you take ONE feature from one of our baby photos and superimpose it on the other, you pretty much have it.)

Missing Grandma and Grandpa

Simon has such a fun week last week with his Grandma Karen and Grandpa Tom. He misses them already!

Today I stayed home with Simon, and tomorrow Troy will do the same. Then on Wednesday we'll all be back to our normal schedule. Here are a few photos of my fun with Simon!

There is no need for toys when we have Rubbermaid:

The Exersaucer is still great fun - the giraffe is Simon's favorite, hands down.

And he is still doing really well at sitting up!

Fun time with Grandma and Grandpa

Since our nanny is on vacation this week (somewhere warm, we are jealous), my parents came out for the whole week to take care of Simon. They've all been having so much fun! Here are some shots from the week, from Mom & Dad's camera!

This can NOT be comfortable

However, my parents tell me that I slept like this when I was a baby, too.

Sitting up

Simon is starting to be able to sit up by himself!

"Reindeer rides"

Troy has had a lot of fun lately giving Simon "horsey rides." Though in the past few weeks, in the spirit of the season, he's been calling them "reindeer rides."

Simon loves this and if you stop doing it, he'll protest a little and bop up and down, as if to say, "Giddyup, horsey!"

Pizza

How to Make Chicago-Style Pizza, by Simon Ryba.

1) Have your daddy make some pizza dough, roll it out and put it in a pizza pan.

2) Help daddy add spinach.

3) Have daddy add cheese and sauce, and put it in the oven.

4) Voila! Pizza!
