Happy Halloween!

By decree of the City of Cedarburg, trick-or-treating was on Saturday evening from 5-8 p.m.

If I do say so myself, I think he was the cutest little giraffe in the whole neighborhood.

Simon was lucky to have his friends come and visit to go trick-or-treating for the evening - Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty (a.k.a. Isabelle and Lili.)  They all had a lot of fun, and the grown-ups did too!

New toy

Simon recently got a new toy, from someone who hasn't even met him yet!  He's a very lucky boy and is always talking about playing with his "special toy."

Lime

Simon decided to eat a lime wedge recently.  At first he thought it was hilarious:

Then appeared to re-think his position:

Then appeared to come to his senses:

He said - "Dat's yucky!"

Shortly after these photos were taken, we repeated the entire process.  Twice.

5 little monkeys...

I'll assume you all know "Five little monkeys, jumping on the bed...".  Simon knows it too!

Weekend fun

We had yet another weekend at the Lake, 2 weekends ago.

It was chilly in the mornings, so we had to distract Simon with indoor fun until it warmed up enough to play outside.

Simon wanted to look at the Lake, so we brought a chair over to the windows.

"I see wake, Mommy!"

Oh, and I made apple dumplings.  My mouth is watering a little just looking at this picture.

More indoor fun!

Of course we made it down by the lake a few times, despite the chilly weather!

The CAR

Simon has a new-to-him toy that has quickly become his Favorite Thing Ever.

As he says, "MY CAR!!!"

This is definitely not a new toy, and actually originally belonged to his cousins Emily and William.  It was then passed on to their cousins James and Catherine.  And now it's been passed on to Simon!  It's got a bumper sticker to note where it came from - if you can't see the top one is from the Sweet Corn Festival in Cedar Rapids, August 2001.  (That is on top of one from 2000!)

Simon is always asking about his car, and when we were all set to head out to school/work one day this past week, he said to me, "I want drive my car couple minutes."  He said it so earnestly I couldn't refuse.

Thanks so much to all of those who took great care of it and then were so kind to pass it on.  We promise to do the same!

We recently took our first trip of the fall to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard that are right near our house.  Simon really likes the geese, chickens, pumpkins and apples!

Checking out the geese

Making his way in to the pumpkin patch

I found one!

Enjoying some apples

Obligatory marketing photo (he loved this bus though)

And here we have last year's pumpkin photo along side this year's.  Same hat but much bigger kid!
