Straw

Simon's always loved drinking water from a sippy cup. We've offered him juice, but he doesn't like it! Recently we finally got him some straw cups and he really likes drinking water from them as well!

Puddle fun

It was a very up-and-down weekend, weather wise. It just couldn't really decide what it wanted to do. This morning it rained, but then by mid-afternoon it cleared up enough that we could take a trip to the park. After plenty of slides down the slide, Simon decided to run the bases with Daddy:

We were already having a grand time:

And then he saw it:

And then this happened:

Once it got to this point though:

We had to call it an afternoon. As you can imagine, Simon was none too pleased:

Reading

Until recently, unless he's been pretty tired, Simon has mostly been interested in books as objects for throwing and climbing on. (As evidenced by the mess you will see in this video.) But he's finally starting to notice the fact that there are some cool things to look at too!

A little help

It's easier to pull books down from the highest shelf if you make yourself a stepstool out of the books you pulled down from the lower shelves.

Serious silliness

The title pretty much speaks for itself. Running all over the place upstairs!

Laundry help

Simon loves laundry, more specifically "taking piles of clean, folded clothes and throwing them around the room." But he is getting good at helping out by loading the clothes in to the washer!

Espresso

It's become apparent that no one can make espresso in our house without Simon's help. He likes to hold on to the portafilter (though not entirely necessary, we've made that his "job".)

Bonus video from this morning!

An eventful week

Simon had minor surgery last Tuesday to get PE tubes in his ears, and thankfully he made it through better than we expected. He had some cranky moments later that day, but overall we're really happy with the results! He's still on antibiotic ear drops to get rid of this persistent infection that led to the tubes in the first place, but it's so nice to have them going right in his ear. No more crazy antibiotic side-effects - yeah!

Here's Simon the morning of the surgery in the waiting area - they had very cool toys!

When we got home, he stuffed his face full of goldfish before going down for a much-needed nap:

And then later that afternoon was back to his normal self, and discovered that he can now reach the top shelf of books in his room. No book is safe now!

Apple

On Saturday as I was getting all of our apples ready to make homemade applesauce, Simon insisted on having one. I gave it to him, not knowing what to expect, and he started eating it. He ended up doing a pretty good job with it! And clearly was pretty happy about it too:
