Special Day

A few weeks ago, Simon had a special day at school.  Each Friday during the spring, one of the kids in his class gets to be the "Shabbat child" for the day.  So we went to school the day that Simon was the Shabbat boy!

Here he is getting set at the head of the table:

His teachers lit the Shabbat candles (which all of the kids are taught VERY early on are not for touching or blowing out, which they are all very good about), and we blessed the challah and the juice before enjoying them both with oranges for snack:

Simon and all of the kids LOVE the challah:

The first thing he said when he woke up that morning was "I'm the Shabbat boy!"

Then we got to read Simon's favorite book to the class.  We brought "Green Eggs and Ham".  But first Simon needed to read it.  (The other kids found this hilarious.)

Then Daddy and Mommy took turns reading the whole book to everyone:

Then we went to Shabbat sing with the whole school!

Part of Shabbat sing involves dancing.  Simon found himself a lovely dance partner :)

Florida videos

Simon had lots of fun on the beach in Florida, especially with his dump truck sand toy that Grandma Karen and Papa Tom picked up for him.

He also really enjoyed running in to and out of the waves.

One night after we had dinner at The Sandbar, we walked back to our rental house along the beach.  Simon enjoyed the waves and also chasing the birds.  (When he would get distracted from walking toward our house, we'd point out some more birds in the right direction, and off he went!)

More tricycle

It didn't take Simon long to get the hang of his tricycle, bent wheel and all!

Another Lake weekend

Simon and I also recently spent another weekend at the Lake.  Simon had a lot of fun playing his favorite game, "Bedtime," with Grandma Karen and Papa Tom.  This involves tucking other people in to bed while Simon gets tucked in to his bed, followed by fake sleeping and periodic swapping of stuffed animals.

He also got to swing in his swing:

And Grandma made him an "S" pancake!

One of the most fun parts was a new-to-Simon tricycle!  Simon inherited it from Emily and William.  It has a wheel that is bent out of shape, but that didn't stop Simon from trying to learn to ride it!

On the way home, Simon fell asleep like this:

Clearly exhausted after a fun weekend!

Helmet

I have a lot of catching up to do, so we'll start several weekends ago when we got Simon his first bike helmet!  He was so excited he insisted on wearing it home from the store.

Then we went out for a ride later that afternoon!
