Getting closer...

Simon did even better with his "scootching" forward today... getting his knees under him! We're going to have to start the baby-proofing REALLY soon, methinks.

Forward progress

Simon is clearly starting to get ready to crawl - yesterday we caught video of him sliding himself forward on his tummy! (As opposed to going around and around and around in circles, as he'd been doing for a while.) This morning we saw him getting his knees under him as well - will post pictures soon!

Long weekend photos

We had a fun long weekend! Chewing on toys:

Chewing on toes:

And reading, of course!

(Guess it's upside-down... oh well! The book is "But Not the Hippopotamus")

Mmm, food....

I'm proud to say that I've been making Simon's baby food myself - all of the fruits and vegetables anyway. It's been pretty easy so far and he has loved almost everything we've given him. I cook everything up and puree it in the food processor or the blender, then freeze it in ice cube trays.

In the photo above from top to bottom: sweet potatoes (running low!), pears, green beans, peas and butternut squash. He also eats carrots and apples, and I've made some acorn squash that we haven't given to him yet. I'm excited to have him try bananas and avocados soon too, and neither requires any cooking!

I'm not sure why I decided to feed him his sweet potatoes without a bib this afternoon though. FAIL.

Around and around

Simon's working on a different kind of mobility - turning around and around on his tummy. He thinks it's great fun! (Soundtrack is the "Snacktime" CD by the Barenaked Ladies - a gift from the Eklovs!)

Our little thumb-sucker

Simon is still pretty good about going to bed at night. (Naptimes are hit or miss - if we time it just right, he's great. If he's not quite tired enough or just a bit overtired, watch out.) We can usually just put him in his crib and he'll roll on to his tummy, find his thumb, and drift right off. He doesn't suck his thumb any other time - just when he's settling himself down to sleep.

Simon babbling

Testing out this site for uploading audio to the blog. We caught some fun audio of Simon babbling this past week. He tends to fixate on one consonant and stick with it for a while. This clip is thus brought to you by the letter "D" (which makes daddy very happy!)

(Facebookers - you'll have to click on "view original post" below to get this to work!)
